Boxing deduction

I want to build a computer which can intelligently react to spoken commands, without getting wound up in logical deduction. Logic is a tangled, nuianceless web of pain which I want very much to avoid. But what role does it play in intelligence, especially in command following?

And why is it so problematic? The frame problem is an obvious show-stopper, but are there others?
